Golden Daze

Golden Daze Concert at the Moroccan Lounge

I fell in love with Silver Lake’s Golden Daze when I saw them open for Whitney in Houston in the spring of 2016. Their warm, organic sound swells inside me in all the ways I love. Golden Daze’s newest release, Simpatico, is easily one of my favorite albums of 2019, and they basically played it in its entirety Tuesday night. Make sure to give it a listen and see these guys when they come to your town.

Whitney Concert at The Secret Group

Hot off the heels of their Coachella debut, Whitney stopped by Houston to play a sold out show at The Secret Group. The concert presented by Margin Walker was straightforward and honest; no backdrops, no moving lights, and total transparency regarding the number of songs they were going to play before and during their encore.

But don't be mistaken, the set was nothing short of magical and full of surprises (e.g. covers, kisses, and the men of Golden Daze joining in on the song Golden Days), proving Whitney doesn't have to rely on production value to win over a crowd. Their ability to blend horns and drummer Julien Erlich’s falsetto into soothing country-soul sounds is all it takes.

Don't worry if you missed their Houston show (although you should have some serious fomo), these guys are touring all summer.
