More often than not, the physical space in which we see live music is nothing more than an auxiliary part of the show. We come for music, not for aesthetics. But maybe it's time we shift that thought.
White Oak Music Hall, Houston's newest music venue, challenges what we've grown to accept out of these sacred temples of sound. Pairing modern, clean design with three stages and a view of the Houston skyline that's totally 'gram worthy, WOMH didn't just elevate the venue game. They killed it.
And, most importantly, it sounds just as great as it looks.
The guys behind it all had me out for their Grand Opening weekend and it did not disappoint. Below is a video from Thursday night featuring sights and sounds from Another Run, Mobley, Peach Kings, and Kay Weathers (mad props to Andy at Video By Robot for the help). Then on Sunday night I shot Explosions in the Sky on the lawn and Ghostland Observatory on the downstairs stage.
